We're an independent, international non-profit organization for women of all ages interested in singing a cappella four-part barbershop harmony. International membership exceeds 30,000.
What do Sweet Adelines do?
We Sing! Each member belongs to a chapter and here in Lincoln County ours is the Oregon Coast Chapter. We rehearse once a week and produce one or two formal shows per year. At least once every three years we participate in Regional Competitions.
As a service organization, we entertain at civic events, charitable functions and social events throughout the county. Musical education is a major function.
It is unaccompanied vocal harmony produced by four voices called lead, tenor, baritone, and bass. The chorus director will help you find the right part for your voice.
What if I don't read music?
Our chorus incorporates many learning styles into the process of note learning: section rehearsals, audio tapes & CDs, and private sessions if desired. Many in our chorus do not read music but are able to learn the music by the above mentioned methods.
Can I afford to join?
There are dues involved since we are part of an international and regional educational network. Local dues are minimal and there is a one-time costume rental fee. Half-price student memberships are encouraged and scholarships are available.
